4-Hour Route

Powerline OHV Trail Overview

Powerline OHV Trail (FR-9524) is an 4×4 trail off the beaten path in West Sedona. This designated trail gives you a more technical off road experience with endless views of not just Sedona, but the entire Verde Valley. This trail is 8 miles with steep inclines and declines that make it unique and a rollercoaster of fun. It is highly recommended to access Powerline OHV Trail with a 4×4 vehicle, or even better yet rent a side-by-side with us at Vortex ATV Rental to give you higher clearance to climb over obstacles.  Powerline OHV Trail links Sycamore Canyon to Sugarloaf Mountain, and transitions between the red rock and limestone of the Verde Valley. If you are looking to enjoy a designated OHV trail near Sedona without the crowds, we would highly recommend this rollercoaster experience.

Difficulty Rating

Powerline OHV Trail can be driven by all different levels of drivers, ranging from novice to experienced. We would consider this a moderate OHV trail in the Sedona/Verde Valley area. This trail offers you a chance to get away from the crowded trails, and explore the West Sedona views that few people get to experience. The overall terrain is smooth and steep, with a couple rough, technical sections than anyone should be capable of maneuvering. Overall this is a great option to enjoy a rougher OHV trail without the crowds and congestion of other 4×4 trails in Sedona regardless of your experience level.

Off-Road Vehicle Access

The best way to access Powerline OHV Trail is with a high clearance 4×4 vehicle, especially a side-by-side for extra clearance climbing on red rocks and maneuvering around tight corners.  This is recommended due to some of the technical terrain and larger boulders found throughout the steep sections, and the washouts that have formed over extended time.
