All routes include a mix of pavement, dirt road, and designated trails for your 4×4 self-guided ATV ride. Below are some of the ATV trails Vortex ATV Rental can send you on, but you are not limited to these ATV routes. Full-Day rentals have an opportunity to do the majority of the ATV trails below. We supply maps and GPS tablets for your convenience.

Off-Road trail Options

Ranch Loop OHV Trail

2 Hours

Ranch loop is perfect for someone looking to 4×4 over rocks and bumps, through dry creeks, and enjoy what the desert has to offer. After finishing the off-road trail, get to a scenic overlook of Sedona Red Rocks, Mingus Mountain, Jerome, and the Verde River.

Sycamore Canyon

2 Hours

Take an adventure up the second largest canyon in Arizona. This option is a great way to see where Sycamore Canyon begins, ruins throughout the hillsides, different perspectives of the Verde River, and a chance for wildlife throughout the ATV rental adventure. 

Verde Trail

2 Hours

Not looking for anything bumpy or extreme? The Verde Trail is the perfect route. Ride to a scenic overlook of Sedona Red Rocks, Mingus Mountain, Jerome, the Verde River, and head up into the start of Sycamore Canyon.

Mingus Mountain Viewpoints

2 Hours

Looking for a hill climb and endless viewpoints of the Verde Valley and Sedona in the background? This 2-hour route climbs 2000 feet up Mingus Mountain to three different viewpoints and perspectives that will not disappoint no matter where you are from.

Outlaw OHV Trail

4 Hours

The most Red Rock viewing and extreme ride offered. 4×4 through the Red Rocks of Sedona and get to the most advanced trail we offer. There is an option to stop at Hanoki Ruins to learn about the history of the area. This is a perfect trail for the adventure seeker looking to be in the Red Rocks of Sedona and to experince more technical off-roading.

Powerline OHV Trail

4 Hours

This off-road trail transitions from the Red Rock of Sedona to the limestone the rest of the Verde Valley has to offer. Less congested than most designated OHV trails in Sedona, this is a great mix of scenic views, technical obstacles, and is considered to be a rollercoaster of an adventure.

Shaman’s Cave Trail

4 Hours

Shaman’s Cave is a hidden gem of Sedona and the Verde Valley. Considered as one of Sedona’s famous Vortexes, Shaman’s Cave is 15-20 minute hike each direction that brings you inside the breathtaking cave. This is a perfect option for someone looking to have fun off-roading that also wants a side adventure of hiking through the desert.

Mingus Mountain

4 Hours

Mingus Mountain trail has some of the most breathtaking views of the Verde Valley with Sedona, Cottonwood, and Flagstaff in the background. This trail starts in Cottonwood and climbs 3500 feet to the top of Mingus Mountain. There is a little bit of everything in this adventure from smooth trail riding to rock crawling within a variety of terrain that can be offered in Arizona.

Mingus Mountain to Cherry

4-5 Hours

This trail has some of the most breathtaking views of of Prescott and the Verde Valley with Sedona, Cottonwood, and Flagstaff in the background. This trail starts in Cottonwood and climbs 3500 feet to the top of Mingus Mountain and then you can cruise accross the Black Hill Mountain to the historic town of Cherry. End the ride on a fun trail of Blue Monster and come back into Cottonwood. There is a little bit of everything in this adventure from smooth trail riding to rock crawling within a variety of terrain that Arizona offers.

Diamondback Gulch
